Naked Nutrition Protein Powder Review

Finding the best protein powder in a world full of a hundred protein powders is like trying to find the perfect spouse or pair of jeans that fit just right in all the places.

It can seem overwhelming and almost impossible. Does a perfect protein powder exist?

It does, and I will tell you why in this full review. Naked Nutrition has provided me with one of the first protein powders I have fallen in love with, and it’s only taken 12+ years to try almost every single one on the market.

Have I tried every single one? I mean, no, after all, I’m not a protein powder machine. I do consume typical meals. To say I have tried every single one on the market would be a lie, and anyone who has said they have is a liar pant on fire.

However, I can confidently tell you I have tried about 80% of them, and I have heavily researched or discussed the ones I have not tried with others who have tested them out.

Why listen to me?

Because I said so, just kidding, but seriously, listen to me.

Growing up, I was in gymnastics, and I learned how to do a cartwheel before I could learn how to walk.

I competed at a high Olympic level until my teens, when I had my third broken arm. At this moment, I had a turning point in my life, and I decided to take a step back and do gymnastics as more of a fun sport instead of a lifelong career.

My gymnastics foundation set me up to compete at a high state and national achieving level in diving, gymnastics, cross country, and track.

After high school and college, I continued my sports and health journey by competing in tough mudders, half-marathons, and marathons.

In my late twenties, I decided to live a (mostly) vegan lifestyle and started to buckle down on what I put into my body. I started looking at my Nutrition and supplements concerning how they helped me continue to live a healthy lifestyle while also being a key component in supporting my daily physical activities.

Now in my early 30s, I strive more than ever to incorporate supplements that are helpful to my physical hobbies and those that will not have any adverse reactions later in life.

This is where the introduction of Naked Nutrition begins.

My Protein Powder Top Picks

It’s hard to pick just one of Naked Nutrition’s protein powders, but here we are.

While each powder will depend on each person’s specific needs, I will review a few of my favorites below.

MICELLAR CASEIN PROTEIN POWDER

Per their website: Naked Casein has only one ingredient: Micellar Casein sourced from US farms. Casein is a slow-digesting protein that helps you stay full for longer. When taken before bed, casein protein supports muscle recovery throughout the night.

Naked Casein is free of additives and artificial sweeteners. We are committed to shortening the steps between our farms and you. Don’t leDon’t supplement industry fool you; additives are for their bottom line, not your health.

If you don’t take my word for it, reviews rate this 5 out of 5 stars on over 150 reviews.

Naked Casein

You might be thinking, what is casein protein powder?

Casein is a slow-digesting protein, unlike whey, which is fast-digesting.

It is so popular with those looking to gain strength in the form of lean muscle because the human body can not make Casein; it is only available in animal proteins. It is shown to be better than whey in gaining strength and mass while eliminating fat.

What is Casein made from?

Casein is made from milk, an excellent source of essential amino acids, and uses rBGH-free skim milk. In addition, they use careful manufacturing processes to create slow-release micellar Casein, unlike whey which is a more rapid release.

When should I take casein protein powder?

Take casein protein powder after a workout during the day to keep you satiated or at night, so your muscles absorb protein during sleep.

Naked Casein is free of additives like artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners.

The main feature that makes Casein unique is how it forms a gel or clot in the stomach, making it perfect at gradually releasing nutrients over time.

Those who struggle with hunger throughout the day can use it to put those cravings at bay.

Is Naked Casein Protein Powder Vegan?

No, because it is made from milk, but I am vegan and still take it. So why would I do this?

I don’t eat three meals plus snacks throughout the day. Instead, I typically eat two meals a day and perhaps a snack if I am starving.

Having a smaller appetite means I don’t eat enough food to get nutrition to support the active lifestyle I like to maintain. So yes can get more than enough nutrients from a vegan lifestyle, but you need to eat enough to achieve that.

Adding in this protein powder gives me the fuel I need throughout the day and an extra boost of energy to get through my longer workouts. It also gives me essential nutrients I would otherwise not get daily.

Casein is particularly rich in the conditionally essential amino acid glutamine, which becomes especially important during exercise.

Does Naked Nutrition have vegan protein powders? Yes, but as I said, I prefer the casein protein powder, and it boils down to one significant factor, the taste.

What Are Some Other Casein Protein Powder Benefits?

BenefitSpecification
Digestion: works as a slow-digestion protein source
Night-time Aid: protects your muscles from nighttime atrophy and supplies the muscle with a steady flow of protein and essential amino acids
Long-term Muscle Mass: taking Casein increases your protein intake, which in turn also helps reduce protein breakdown (this happens when your body is low on energy)
Greater Muscle Gains: one study showed excellent results with heavy resistant training after ten weekstenf observation in helping their body increase lean fat-free muscle
Improve Metabolic Rate: a survey conducted in the Netherlands involved enlarging casein intake by two and a half times. This study showed that the participants had a higher metabolic rate while sleeping and a better overall fat balance.
Can Be Easier To Take: what I mean by this is that because you can take it at night before bed, you might have a better chance of remembering to take it vs. other proteins recommended before or directly after a workout. It is also easier to take because it works as a recovery and muscle builder in one, so anytime is a good time with Casein since it is slow releasing; it kind of works as a fall-proof in terms of day-to-day consumption and time of day consumption.
Greater Strength: researchers found in one study that participants who consumed Casein experienced double the muscle growth and tripled the fat loss compared to the placebo group by at least 20%

Delicious Taste

One of the things that stood out to me from the beginning of using Naked Nutrition Casein Protein Powder was the taste.

Casein Protein Is Available In:

Right off the bat, Naked Vanilla Casein had a taste that jumped out at me. The casein powder is vanilla flavored, and it is a rich and smooth vanilla flavor that tastes amazing even when mixed with water alone. It’s like a dessert treat I look forward to before or after my workouts.

I decided I would start to get fancy with my protein routine, and when it was made into actual food, my mind was seriously blown.

I got some inspiration from their actual blog. My favorite recipes are below! They are super easy to make and super delicious.

Protein Cookie Dough

  • One scoop of casein protein powder
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter (or almond butter, etc.)
  • 1tsp chocolate chips (I prefer dark chocolate)
  • 1/3 to 1/2cup water (adjust to desire texture)

Combine the protein and peanut butter in a bowl until thoroughly mixed. Then, slowly add the water until the mixture resembles dough. Finally, mix in the chocolate chips.

Protein Mug Brownie

  • 1 scoop Naked Casein protein powder
  • One egg
  • 1tbsp flour
  • 1tbsp baking cocoa
  • 1/2tsp baking powder
  • 1/4cup milk (I sub almond or coconut)

Spray a microwave-safe mug with nonstick spray. Combine all ingredients in a separate bowl and mix well. Add the mixture to the mug. Cover the mug with plastic wrap and microwave for 30 seconds to a minute (depending on the mug’s size and the microwave’s power).

EGG WHITE PROTEIN POWDER

Egg white protein powder is a bit newer to the market.

Pin on Protein Powders

What is egg white protein powder?

Egg White Protein Powder is dried egg whites from non-GMO chicken eggs and provides a paleo diet-friendly egg protein.

It works great for those like me who don’t feel overfull but want to feel full enough to go from lunch to dinner without having any snacks.

Naked EggEgg is a premium egg white protein powder using only non-GMO eggs sourced exclusively from US farms. All vital nutrients and a complete amino acid profile are retained in the purest form—naked eggs containing additives such as sweeteners, flavors, or colors.

Is egg white protein powder the same as egg white pEgger?

Pretty much, yes. The color might be slightly different, but the ingredients are almost identical. Egg white protein powder will have ample protein vs. egg white powder.

Does egg white protein powder have a flavor?

Not really. The best thing about this powder is that it is flavorless. So you can mix it with something like juice, and you don’t have to rely on just using it in shakes or smoothies.

I like to make a fun recipe with this powder: protein powder crepes. All you need is two ingredients.

  • 1/2 cup egg whites
  • One scoop (30 grams) vanilla protein powder

Place a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. In a bowl, combine egg whites and protein powder. Whisk until the protein powder is dissolved. Scoop about 1/2 of the mixture, or 1/3 of the mix, if using a smaller pan, into the pan, and rotate the pan around, so the batter spreads thin. Cook until the bottom is lightly browned, and flip it over to cook through.

Is egg white protein powder better than whey?

This answer will depend on the person and their fitness goals. Whey contains 2 grams of fat per 25 grams of protein and 3 grams of carbohydrates per 25 grams. Egg white protein contains only 2 grams of carbohydrates per 25 grams of protein and no fats.

This can be better for those who want to feel full on fewer calories.

Which is healthier, egg white or yellow?

The Eggius of this powder is that the white part of the egg contains the theEggst protein, vs. the egg yolk carries the cholesterol, fats, and the bulk of the overall calories.
