Things To Keep In Mind
Remember any mask you buy online is not going to be medical grade. Those are only available to professionals and shouldn’t be bought by the standard person.
Masks do NOT provide protection against bacteria or viruses but can serve as a protective barrier.
I suggest buying multiple because you want to wash the mask after just one time of wearing it out because germs can live on the surface of the mask.
Try not to reach under the mask with dirty hands and try not to adjust it once you have it on and have left your home. Adjusting it while you are out is a greater cause to spread germs etc.
Studies from Oxford & Cambridge Universities 2010 /2013 have shown some effectiveness with cloth masks that medical professional using surgical face masks correctly get 80% fewer infections than those who don’t however in light of the recent global outbreak the following study shows how masks even homemade ones are recommended in helping to reduce the wearer from touching their own face.
Why are people wearing face masks right now?
The whole reason why people are choosing to wear face masks right now is because the CDC has staid that they can help stop the spread of the virus.
“CDC recommends that people wear a cloth face covering to cover their nose and mouth in the community setting. This is an additional public health measure people should take to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in addition to (not instead of) social distancing, frequent hand cleaning and other everyday preventive actions.”
Importantly, researchers also found that flu rates were lower when masks were paired with proper hand hygiene.
What are face masks used for besides stopping the spread of germs and viruses?
Face masks are used daily by dog groomers, nail technicians, errands around the house such as dusty projects, painting, high pollen days and many more.
